Growth Mindset: Learning is Messy

Courtesy of Laura Gibbs
Learning is often a literally messy process for me. My desk is often covered in eraser shavings and pieces of paper. However, it is also a mentally messy process. I often learn in leaps and bounds as I have epiphanies, it is not a constant flow of information into my brain. Additionally, not all of that information is neatly organized when it makes it to my brain.

  1. Andrew, I agree with your post. I feel like part of the process of learning is organizing all the messy things in your head. In my opinion that is the best way to learn. It allows you to understand the relationships between the different parameters you are currently trying to learn about. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to reading more of your posts.

  2. Andrew, I really related to your post. The process of learning is very demanding. I try and be as organized as possible but with the stressful semester I too have a messy desk. I am known to have late epiphanies on exams that save my grade so I can relate. Anyways, thanks for sharing this meme. It is pretty funny!

  3. Andrew, I can relate to having a full desk when studying but I like to think of it as an organized mess. I feel like whenever I study I take up a full table with books, notebooks, computer, handouts, etc. Since I am an accountant it is necessary to find my own organization system. I find that using colored highlighters works best for me.
